PC-BSD 8.0 ist just erschienen und nutzt die robuste Basis des bekannten UNIX-Derivats FreeBSD. Mit von der Partie: KDE 4.3.5, FreeBSD 8.0-RELEASE-P2, ein Installer der die Installation von PC-BSD als auch FreeBSD ermöglicht, 64 Bit nVidia-Treiber etc., en detail findet man alles weitere in den Release-Notes. Den Download findet man dort, vorhanden sind DVD-Image, USB-Image und CD-Image.

The second of the two planed Release Candidates for the 7.2-RELEASE cycle is now available. We believe with the exception of the new bce(4) driver not working with lagg(4) all the major issues that have come up from the testing have been addressed. We will work with the vendor to get that issue addressed post-release. Ken Smith verkündete just die frohe Botschaft, man liegt also in etwa im Plan und sofern kein showstopper in letzter Sekunde in Erscheinung tritt wird man baldigst mit dem Release dieses hochqualitativen freien UNIX-Derivats rechnen können.
FreeBSD steht eben nicht still und mischt an forderster Front mit.
